Dr Tom Nailcare delivers a proprietary blend of keratin, including a specialised hydrolysed form derived from New Zealand wool, directly into the nail. This keratin bonds with your nail’s own structure, reinforcing it from within to increase strength, flexibility, and resistance to cracking or peeling

In lab testing, the formula increased nail strength by 30% in 10 days. Real users reported nails that were smoother, stronger, and visibly healthier.

Behind The Science

Before developing my own formula, I tried everything – nourishing oils, nail varnish-based hardeners, acrylics, even glued-on fakes.

Oils helped a little, but didn’t prevent breakage.
Varnish-based products flaked off and took layers of nail with them.
Nail polish removers only made things worse.
Acrylics helped short-term but damaged my nails long-term.

Each attempt left my nails weaker and me even more frustrated.

There was no reliable lab method to test nail-strengthening products. So we made one.

With support from a local university and Callaghan Innovation, we:

Developed keratin-based test nails (from NZ sheep’s wool).
Standardised their size and thickness.
Used tensile testing machines to measure flexibility and breakage strength.

This method gave us measurable, scientific data – a game-changer for product development.

40 people tested the product:

95% of guitarists said it was effective or very effective.
93% of all testers (including a nurse, teacher, and hairdresser) had positive results.
One guitarist needed longer to see results, but it worked in the end.
